Gotta love the lack of support from Microsoft when it comes to preWindows 8.1 or 8.2 (don't remember which) when it comes to successfully doing system image backups onto advanced formatted non 512e sector external hard drives... nothing like forcing people to have to update their system software to use these larger, newer external hard drives....
*grumbles and stomps foot*
this week has been too much time working to get my laptop fully backed up with knowledge that it's hard drive is on it's way out.... bought a 3TB external since the 500GB we have is full and I'm not gonna risk deleting it without another backup handy first....
*grumbles some more*
hope things are good for you... I'm just in the mood to complain now... lol

after 6 tries, finally figured it out, using the backup software that came with the hard drive instead of windows backup for one and turned off the uac... how time consuming though to have it run for 4-6 hours then to give an error on those previous tries....
next step replacing the internal... or wait for it to fail then replace it, lol, decisions decisions...

lol I know right....
wondering if it's the same issue that is keeping the new internal from working properly, advanced format using windows 7, had it running etc but programs not working right, nothing downloading, no windows update etc... still might have to be upgrading to newer OS but have few more thing want to try first...
running on old hard drive right now, removed new one, so can get a few things done on computer, just hope it doesn't crash in meantime, lol

yes I'm using windows 7 and it's legit, came on the latptop... the problem is a combination I think, that the internal drive I got to replace it is advanced format and I'm doing a clone of original harddrive so tons of things are not working right. Still have original in for now and reformatted the new one so will try again to clone but if that doesn't work, guess have to just use the restore disks and reinstall it all... YUCK...
Mondays is my backup day so not messing with it til after that's done, prob try cloning again on tues...
