this is 2 days running and altho mercs can/do cause crashes...I am not entirely sure as tho they are completely to blame for yesterday...there must be some fragility with the connection or something is goin on...I think itd be good to find out who all was on...and investigate them thoroughly. I believe it was just me/anna/chaos/one other on. believe it was cupcake but dont quote me on that.

i know that that both times times that the shard has crashed in the last few days i was killing a big mob and using holy light rapidly had merc out the frist time with llama and only llama the second time IDK

Well, just to give you info.. I am learning through messenger.. it seems it was not intentional. It was just an action that should not have caused the shard to crash but it did. And that is all the info I will give but now we just have to wait to see if it will be restarted and if it cant be with the host, we have to wait for Lady Aly to get knowledge of this. And we all have to realized, this I am sure is getting very frustrating for Lady Aly. :-( So please, I ask, everyone try to be understanding. Thank you :-)

I understand very much that its getting frustrating...I know that any time something permanent is changed in a server there is a "lag spike" for a brief moment...but...ive never heard of spamming a spelll crashing a server before...however...when it comes back up...please isolate cupcakes merc so we all dont get penalized.

Well, he did say, he only had his Llama out this time. It gets really frustrating for lady aly and all staff; that players just dont realize how bad it is for the shard to "not" care for the mercs properly. And Lady Aly has really tried to be patient with this merc issue but there is no need to point fingers on the forums. Lady Aly always does her best to keep this shard running and granted, there are some players that need to be a little more understanding on her efforts. Players really just need to work together on this merc issue and help the shard to keep running.

The initial Crash monday and the one this morning have nothing to do with spamming spells or anyone pets.

Cupcake is aware of not leaving pets out and it was not his merc that caused the crashing yesterday, so ease up on Cupcake k? Someone else left their dead merc wandering while they were not online and Cupcake just happened to be at a champ spawn with his so when the shard was restarted his merc got killed since it was in the spawn area.

It's back up and I'm fixing the crash issue and NO, it's something I rather not announce what is causing it because then anyone with an 'issue' with DC or someone on it, can freely create problems. We are working to figure out a permanant fix but in the meantime, it doesnt happen that often so I'm asking everyone to just be patient... it's nothing new.

Things are down at the server end, I am unable to connect to the server or the host's websites so maybe powerloss etc. I'll keep checking back often and get it running as soon as I can.

Try going to joinuo.com/or www.runuo.com/and looking for a link to download uo itself. The actual files for DC that would be downloaded is the hues file and it is not a requirement to get it working. If you patch uo to far though, client 6.0.14.2 or later, it will not work with Dark Crusaders.

I Download UO Gold for the client and then update it to the 6.0.13.0 through running the official patcher.

To find the UO Gold download, go on google and search

That and FileFront has very fast Download speeds for the download so it won't take forever.

Then download/install Razor from here

Razor is a great program for organizing & making the UO experience easier. especially with the special macros you can set up as well as a quick-dress feature so if you die it doesn't take forever to re-equip.

Then download/install ConnectUO from here

After that's installed run Connect UO (No need to have razor Open as ConnectUO will open razor for you when you connect to Dark Crusaders)
To have it where Razor connects when you run Dark Crusaders, in the ConnectUO client go to

Settings --> Ultima Online
Then Check the "Launch Razor with Client" checkbox to where it's checked.

after that go to the search at the top of the client and search Dark Crusaders.

Click the Favorites on the Dark Crusaders tab under Play feature so it would be easy to find DC again next time you run ConnectUO.

Then click Play. It will auto-download the hues file so you don't have to worry about manual patching.

If you close out of ConnectUO, and re-open ConnectUO, on the left side, click Favorites, and since it was added to that list, it makes it so you won't have to search all over again ^.^

Then go have fun on the Dark Crusaders shard.

Seems someone is just not knowing how to take care of their merc or they are purposely attempting to cause a problem. Yes, the shard crashed again due to a merc, thank goodness I checked before heading to bed, haven't had a chance prior to that.

If your gonna give a merc or merc deed to someone, especially a new player to DC, please take the time to explain more about mercs and how to use/care for them before just letting them figure it on their own. It's been quite a while since we've had this persistant issue and if it continues the mercs are again at risk of removal.

If I find it's been an intentional thing, that person may as well just not come back.

So yes, it's back up and I'm sorry for how long it took, things just not running that smooth in rl right now to that takes priority.
